MEET THE MANAGERS OF AMERICAN LEGAL SEARCH
Joseph D. Freedman, JD Chairman
Mr. Freedman has spent more than a decade in the search industry and is
a recognized leader in the legal recruiting field. An accomplished entrepreneur, he has
founded and grown several very successful businesses, including an Inc. 500 legal
search company, which he began as a start-up and later sold to an NYSE corporation. Mr.
Freedman has extensive experience advising, consulting and working with law firms and
start up ventures. Prior to entering the legal search industry, Mr. Freedman earned a
Juris Doctorate degree and a B.S. in Finance.
Richard Brock, Esq. CEO & Managing Principal
Mr. Brock is our company CEO, Managing Principal, and Co-founder. He is
a former practicing attorney and has been in the legal search industry for nearly a
decade. Mr. Brock is a graduate of Washington & Lee University and the University of
Alabama School of Law. His background includes several years as a litigator with a
prominent Southeastern law firm. Mr. Brock has performed successful searches for some of
the best law firms and corporations in the nation. He has placed attorneys at all levels
of experience and also has facilitated successful law firm mergers.
Mr. Brock has launched four successful businesses, and has received
numerous awards as a successful entrepreneur and business leader. Through his years of
practice, success in attorney placement, and experience as a corporate leader, Richard has
developed extensive contacts in the legal and business communities throughout North
America.
Kevin R. Fisher, Esq. COO & General Counsel
Kevin has a background of success as a practicing attorney, a legal recruiter and
business executive. Upon graduating from Quinnpiac University School of Law, he practiced
entertainment law in Nashville, Tennessee. From there, Kevin joined AMERICAN Legal Search,
LLC as an attorney recruiter where he experienced great success placing lawyers across the
Southeast.
After two years with AMERICAN Legal Search, Kevin joined a retail
business venture and was instrumental in the growth and operational success of that
company.
Recently, Kevin combined his experiences and varied background as a
business executive, lawyer, and legal recruiter and became the Chief Operating Officer and
General Counsel of AMERICAN Legal Search.
Rhonda Singer, Esq. Senior Managing Director, East Coast Operations
Ms. Singer is a 1975 graduate of New York University School of Law. She
received a B.A. degree from Yale, from which she graduated magna cum laude. Ms. Singer is
a former practicing attorney and experienced search consultant who founded and managed a
temporary attorney/paralegal search division prior to joining AMERICAN. Ms. Singer has
spent the majority of her legal career in and around the New York City area. She has
worked as in-house counsel for major companies and as the General Counsel of the Better
Business Bureau of Metro NY. Her private practice has included practicing law as a
litigation and anti-trust associate for the law firms of Whitman & Ransom (now Winston
& Strawn) and Rivkin Sherman & Levy (now Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis). Ms.
Singer is responsible for leading our East Coast operations.
Robin LeGrand Managing Director, West Coast Operations
Robin has more than seventeen years of experience in the legal
industry, and has worked with many of the top national law firms, including acting as the
Director of Legal Recruiting for one the most highly respected national and international
law firms in the country.
Robin places attorneys in all types of law firms. From small to
midsized, large, local, national, and international law firms, she has a positive and
recognized name in the West Coast legal community and has long-lasting personal
relationships with many partners and other recruiting personnel throughout the state of
California.
While Robin focuses on the California market, she also has worked with
attorneys and clients in Washington and Asia. Robin truly understands the unique pressures
and demands facing law firms and corporations today and strives hard to bridge the gap
between the desires of her candidates and the needs of her clients. Moreover, having been
active in the hiring process, she ideally knows what to look for in terms of the "the
ideal candidate" and focuses on how to make the perfect match between the candidate,
the law firm and the clients it services.
Robin distinguishes herself as a highly respected recruiter by her true
commitment and understanding of the legal search process with the utmost professionalism
and ethics with which she approaches her interactions between the candidates and the
clients she services.
Carter Hoyt Managing Director, Atlanta Operations
Ms.
Hoyt is the Executive Director of the Atlanta office of American Legal Search. Prior to
joining ALS, she worked as a legal recruiter for more than five years with a major search
firm in Atlanta. During that time, she placed associates, partners and groups with both
law firms and major corporations in Atlanta and around the country. In addition, Ms. Hoyt
served for seven years as the National Director of Recruitment and Professional
Development for one of the top law firms headquartered in Atlanta. Her earlier recruiting
career included work for a major consulting firm and for two educational institutions in
Atlanta.
In her spare time, Carter is involved in numerous outreach activities
through her church and is an avid Atlanta Braves and professional and college football
fan. Among her prized possessions are a baseball and sign autographed by Francisco Cabrera
who delivered the hit against the Pittsburgh Pirates which won the National
League Pennant and sent the Atlanta Braves to the World Series in 1992.
Robin Thompson Managing Director, Houston Operations
Robin
Thompson is the Managing Director of the Houston office of American Legal Search. Robin
has been an active member of the Houston legal community since 1974. Prior to joining ALS,
Robin worked in staffing for many years as the staffing coordinator for the legal
department of a major international oil company where she staffed over 700 positions, and
later, as a division manager of a nationwide search firm in Houston where she placed
attorneys, paralegals and support staff. Robins early career included nearly 20
years of work as a senior project paralegal managing high profile MDL and class action
litigation for some of the nations most prominent attorneys. Robin enjoys speaking
to groups on issues dealing with the changing legal environment. Robin has been included
as a speaker at the global legal symposium for a Houston-based energy company on the topic
of the changing legal office environment; has spoken at a mentoring program for the U.S.
Department of Justice; and has been interviewed for articles in magazines, including an
article on the effect of Sarbanes-Oxley on the law office published in Legal Assistant
Today.
She is a member of the Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable, the
Association for Corporate Growth, and serves as VP of Programs on the Board of Directors
of ARMA Houston where she has been successful in organizing legal-related professional
development programs for those in the legal and information management professions. In her
spare time, she is active in literacy for children programs, and loves to spend time
reading to children in her daughters elementary school.
